3CX’s new CEO

Nick Galea the founder of 3CX has moved out of his CEO role to allow him to focus on the strategic direction of the 3CX product. His official new title is CTO. Stefan Walther who has been with 3CX since 2008, has taken the helm as CEO. His most recent position was COO and he is excited by the new role. For those that watched the live launch of version 16 back at the end of March the launch was delivered by both Nick and Stefan. This can mean only great things for 3CX as Nick’s passion has always been about taking the 3CX product to new places. Exciting developments will be ahead. Read the official announcement here.

3CX version 16 – update 3 Beta, get prepared now

Update 3 for 3CX version 16 is getting closer – it went to Beta on the 20th of September. In preparation for this you need to review your smartphone apps. The new Android and iOS apps (currently in Beta) will be fully compatible with update 3 but your existing apps that are currently installed will not. There are steps you need to take to ensure that the smartphone apps keep running uninterrupted. If you’re not intending to update to service pack 3 straight away, disable the auto updates on smartphones so that it’s business as usual. If you are updating to service pack 3 straight away, ensure the auto updates on smartphones are on so they’ll update and continue to work as expected. For more information on the smartphone apps you can refer to 3CX’s blog here. For the latest Beta information refer to this link. Remember you must also have current maintenance for a perpetual license to have access to the smartphone apps. Remember the Beta update 3 should only be installed for evaluation and not on production systems.

Grandstream’s product roadmap

Exciting times are ahead with Grandstream having a very heavy development schedule in the next 6-9 months. This side of Christmas, we will see the final models of the GRP Carrier Grade phones released. The GDMS cloud based provisioning and management platform will also go from its current Beta status to live. Development is well underway to extend the portable WiFi range and refresh the conference phone range and lots more. We’ll share more updates as we receive the information.

3CX WebMeeting status

With the growth in popularity of 3CX’s built-in WebMeeting, they’ve taken steps to ensure customers can check on service nodes’ availability and check for any potential issues. Visit this link to check out live information and you can read the blog post here. Another enhancement to ensure you can conduct your web conferencing uninterrupted.

Case studies – local stories to share?

There is nothing better to assist in getting a sale across the line than a local case study that is relatable to your client. We are looking for NZ success stories to share. If you have a customer you think that would be willing to participate, please get in touch with our VoIP Brand Manager, Megan Twentyman. We’ll make the process painless. We want success stories around 3CX, Grandstream or even both working together.

3CX sales training webinar

Yilmaz Kabaran the ANZ Channel Manager recently recorded one of his sales training sessions. This is a fantastic resource for new partners and for partners that want a refresh on the core proposition that 3CX brings to the VoIP space. Yilmaz also looks within the Partner Portal during the session. The recording is available on YouTube here.

Marketing materials

A number of partners took up the option to have datasheets customised with their logo. This is a service that Soft Solutions offers. We even share presentations that you can adapt for your potential customers. If this is of interest, reach out to Megan Twentyman for further advice.

Firmware for IP phones

Remember it’s always important to keep checking for updated firmware for your VoIP hardware. Both major brands we work with, Grandstream and Yealink, release new firmware as it’s developed. The firmware is available free of charge from their respective websites. If you’re ever trouble-shooting any issue with 3CX, the first thing they will check is whether your hardware has the most up-to-date version.
