3CX version 16 – update 3 Alpha

3CX is fully committed to adding new features and improving existing functionality within their IP PBX. They have just released update 3 to Alpha. This brings new options around DNS resolution for SIP providers. Adjustments within the management console around bridges means they now have a new home under the SIP provider settings. Also included, is extended functionality to the Android mobile softphone client with tighter capabilities around switching between WiFi and 3G/4G when you need to leave the office during a call. The new iOS and Android apps are currently in Beta. They bring new abilities that support IPv6 and chat feature parity with the 3CX web client. As always, there are also fixes for known issues. You can read the release notes here.

Please note that update 3 is still in Alpha, so is not yet recommended for production sites. It is going to be fantastic when released. We’ll keep you updated as it moves to Beta and the live release.

3CX WebMeeting updated

WebMeeting has been updated to add even more features with a focus around remote control functionality. This now allows you to take control of a participant’s PC for demonstration or troubleshooting activities. You can also now send and receive files via the updated “Meeting Chat”. Read more here and think of the possibilities that WebMeeting brings to you and your clients. Clients can now standardise on WebMeeting as their go-to conferencing tool. Being WebRTC based, it doesn’t take up Simultaneous Call counts.

Marketing materials

Soft Solutions is here to assist you. We are able to customise datasheets for 3CX and Grandstream and even share presentations that you can adapt for your potential customers. If this is of interest, reach out to Megan Twentyman for further advice.

Firmware for IP phones

Remember it’s always important to keep checking for updated firmware for your VoIP hardware. Both major brands we work with, Grandstream and Yealink, release new firmware as it’s developed. The firmware is available free of charge from their respective websites. If you’re ever trouble-shooting any issue with 3CX, the first thing they will check is whether your hardware has the most up-to-date version.
