3CX version 18 – Alpha 4

Version 18 continues to come closer with the release of Alpha 4. In this update, the codec is set based on whether the app is being used on a WiFi or mobile network – admins can also set the priorities. 3CX is working on a fresh new user interface for the WebClient. The first changes are unveiled in Alpha 4, but more are being worked on so stay tuned. There is of course further bug fixes and development. Here’s the link to the release notes. Please remember that Alpha (4) releases are not recommended for production systems, but are designed for testing on inhouse demo systems. Have feedback on the Alpha 4 release’s new features? Let us know at voip@sofsol.co.nz.

3CX Intermediate Technical Certification training

Our next in-person training is coming up in Wellington. We’ve just run a very successful event in Auckland, and look forward to seeing our Wellington / central North Island customers in Wellington.

  • Wellington – Tuesday 15th June 8.45am to 1.30pm. Register here.

The trainings will be led by Kenny Cheung, Technical Specialist. It is a pre-requisite that attendees hold the Basic Certification. The Basic Training materials can be found on the 3CX website here. Technical certifications belong to an individual and each person is required to have their own 3CX login. You can register for your individual account here. Once you have an account, please ensure you link it to your company via the Partner Portal on the “Users” menu.

We are planning further trainings for both Intermediate and Advanced Technical Certifications around the country. More details will be made available in the coming weeks. If you have any queries, please reach out to voip@sofsol.co.nz.

Integrate 3CX with Yealink headsets

Anoop (our Senior VoIP Engineer) has just completed testing 3CX with the Yealink new generation wireless DECT headsets. There is a plugin required to enable full functionality. Once installed correctly, you can answer/end calls, mute/unmute, adjust volume from the headset for 3CX. Reach out to our team for the plugin and instructions on voip@sofsol.co.nz. This applies to new models WH62, WH63, WH66, WH67, UH33, UH34, CP700 and CP900.

3CX trial licenses + Proof of Concept upgrades

Did you miss our webinar in late April? We focused on trial licenses and Proof of Concept upgrades. The recording is available on our YouTube page here. We covered off the best practice for creating trial licenses – with all trials starting as a Standard 8-SC free license. However, with the POC (Proof of Concept) upgrade being available to 3CX partners, you can move that license up to a Professional or Enterprise license along with the number of Simultaneous Calls you need for your trial period. At the end of the trial when your client purchases, we can turn that trial license into a live license as well. If you need help, please reach out to voip@sofsol.co.nz and we’ll assist you further.

Demo Days in June

Soft Solutions is running a series of in-person Demo Day events this quarter. Each event will include presentations around 3CX and Grandstream, along with StorageCraft and WatchGuard. It’s a great time to engage with our Soft Solutions team. Reserve your place below for the June events:

Grandstream unveils entry level WiFi desk phone

Grandstream has added to the GRP260X range of phones, with an entry level black and white deskphone with built in WiFi. The GRP2602W will be available soon – it has all the features of the GRP2602(P) models. Having WiFi opens all sorts of usage scenarios – hotels with no cabling, older buildings without Ethernet in the right places, and more. Also, because it’s black and white, it’s not as bright so could be used in rest homes and more. It features the same unified firmware as all the GRP260X models. It has a NZ retail of $108.79 (excl. GST) so is at a very competitive price point as well. If you’d like to know more, please reach out to us on voip@sofsol.co.nz.

Need demo equipment?

At Soft Solutions, we operate a pool of VoIP demo equipment allowing our resellers to test out new technology. There is often a waiting list for equipment that our Admin Team manage superbly. At the moment, we cannot keep up with the demand from partners to test the new GRP260X and GRP261X units. Other popular units are the Grandstream intercom speakers and portable WiFi phones. We can also access demo equipment from Yealink and other vendors. If you need to test something, please contact megan@sofsol.co.nz who will be happy to assist.

Grandstream NFRs for internal use + price breaks

Do you need to have a few different phones in stock for testing and demonstrations? We allow partners to purchase one of each model of our Grandstream devices, at our 25+ price break, when you state it’s for internal use.

With Grandstream units, we have additional discounts available for 5+ and 25+ units in one purchase order – this can be a mix of models. Our sales team can help you with either of these requirements. If you have a very large deal, reach out to megan@sofsol.co.nz to discuss it.

Grandstream ex-demo and EOL clearance

We have ex-demo units available to purchase at a reduced cost. All units are checked by our team and factory re-set. Boxes are intact but open. Soft Solutions will honour a 1-year warranty from date of sale. We are also clearing our GXP17XX series inventory as it starts to go EOL. These are excellent units including a desktop WiFi option. At present we have the following available:

  • Ex-demo units – sold at half of the normal reseller purchase price:
    • 1 x GDS3710 Video Door System – $237.89 excl.
    • 1 x GWN7000 Multi-WAN Gigabit VPN Router – $79.33 excl.
    • 1 x GXP1625 HD IP Phone 2-line PoE – $27.30 excl.
    • 1 x GXP1760 HD IP Phone 6-line PoE – $39.00 excl.
    • 1 x GXP1760W HD IP Phone 6-line PoE WiFi – $51.50 excl.
    • 1 x GXP2135 HD IP Phone 2.8″ Colour Screen 8-line PoE – $55.60 excl.
  • Clearance units going EOL, reseller purchase reduced:
    • 6 x GXP1760 HD IP Phone 6-line PoE – $78.00 excl.
    • 7 X GXP1760W HD IP Phone 6-line PoE WiFi – $103.00 excl.
    • 19 x GXP1782 HD IP Phone 8-line Gigabit PoE – $84.00 excl.

Please contact voip@sofsol.co.nz if you are interested in purchasing any of these units.

Case studies – local stories to share?

There is nothing better than a local and relatable case study to help you get a sale across the line. We are looking for more NZ stories to have turned in to case studies. Do you have a success story to share? We have a simple questionnaire you can work through with your customer – 3CX’s marketing team does the rest. It’s a great opportunity to touch base with customers and ensure everything’s working as it should. If you have a customer that might participate, contact our VoIP Brand Manager, Megan Twentyman. We’ll make the process painless.

Marketing materials

Several partners took up the option to have datasheets customised with their logo. This is a service that Soft Solutions offer. We even share presentations that you can adapt for your potential customers. If this is of interest, reach out to Megan Twentyman for further assistance.

Firmware for IP phones

Remember it is vital to keep checking for updated firmware, for your VoIP hardware. Grandstream and Yealink release new firmware as it is developed. The firmware is available free of charge from their respective websites. If you are ever trouble-shooting any issue with 3CX, the first thing they will check is whether your hardware has the most up-to-date version. Now is a great time to ensure everything is up-to-date and working optimally.
